Aims and Scope

Turkish Journal of Orthodontics (Turk J Orthod) is a scientific, open access periodical published by independent, unbiased, and double-blinded peer-review principles. The journal is the official publication of the Turkish Orthodontic Society, and it is published quarterly in March, June, September, and December.

Turkish Journal of Orthodontics publishes clinical and experimental studies on on all aspects of orthodontics including craniofacial development and growth, reviews on current topics, case reports, editorial comments and letters to the editor that are prepared in accordance with the ethical guidelines. The journal’s publication language is English and the Editorial Board encourages submissions from international authors. Please note that the journal does not consider survey research for publication.

Journal’s target audience includes academicians, specialists, residents, and general practitioners working in the fields of orthodontics, dentistry, medicine and other related fields.

The editorial and publication processes of the journal are shaped in accordance with the guidelines of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), Council of Science Editors (CSE), Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), European Association of Science Editors (EASE), and National Information Standards Organization (NISO). The journal is in conformity with the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing.

Turkish Journal of Orthodontics is currently indexed in PubMed Central, Web of Science-Emerging Sources Citation Index, DOAJ, Scopus, CNKI, Gale, EBSCO and TUBITAK ULAKBİM TR Index.

All expenses of the journal are covered by the Turkish Orthodontic Society.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Turkish Journal of Orthodontics’ Open Access Policy is based on the rules of Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI). By “open access” to [peer-reviewed research literature], we mean its free availability on the public internet, permitting any users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software. The only constraint on reproduction and distribution, and the only role for copyright in this domain, should be to give authors control over the integrity of their work and the right to be properly acknowledged and cited.

The Turkish Journal of Orthodontics does not demand any subscription fee, publication fee or similar payment for access to electronic resources.

Creative Commons

A Creative Commons license is a public copyright license that provides free distribution of copyrighted works or studies. Authors use the CC license to transfer the right to use, share or modify their work to third parties. This journal is licensed under a  Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) which permits third parties to copy, distribute, or reuse the content for non-commercial purposes by giving the appropriate credit to the author and original work.
