In order to answer the question of what is the thing creating the beauty lead scientists to find a mathematical explanation. The golden section is the outcome of such endeavor. The existence of the golden section in human anatomy has been acknowledged for a long time. In this study, the sample consisted of 25 subjects of which 8 were male and 17 were female and their mean age was above 20 years old. All of the instances underwent mandibular set back surgery and pre and post orthodontic care was rendered in our clinic. The purpose of the research is to evaluate the vertical profile changes using the golden section analysis of Ricketts and Baud on facial profile photographs of a group of mandibular prognathie instances before and after surgical correction as to figure out how close or away we are from the golden section standard of the facial esthetics.
