The material of this study consists of lateral cephalometric head films of 165 male and 165 female subjects having ideal occlusion and balanced facial pattern. All of the subjects were aged 13 to 16 years old. ANB angle and the measurements that were thought to influence this angle were measured on the film of each subject. A multiple regression analysis was applied to determine the effects of the measurements, such as SNA, GoGn/SN, OP/SN, PP/SN, NSAr, and SN distance, on the ANB angle. As a conclusion, it has been found that approximately 58.9 % of the variation of ANB angle could be explained by the variations of the SNA, OP/SN, GoGn/SN, and PP/SN measurements in females, and approximately 67.5 % of the variation by the variation of SNA, GoGn/ SN, OP/SN, SN distance, and NSAr measurements in males. SN and NSAr measurements in females and PP/SN in males were excluded from the final models of regression because of their weak explanation powers.
